Open Garden Day Results

Firstly a very big thank you to everyone who supplied cakes, refreshments, books and plants to sell last Sunday or gave their time to help in anyway. Also thank you to Roy and Katie Huffey for the beautiful flowers in church which were admired by visitors.  Finally thanks to the Garden owners who worked so hard to prepare their gardens. The visitors were very complimentary.

Financially the day was very successful. You may have noticed we increased the ticket price to £4 this year to bring us in line with other open days. This, together with some generous donations and the excellent returns from food provision, stalls and activities on the day meant a profit of £1,922 which is the highest total ever. There was also an increase in numbers attending (approx. 262)

John has informed me that there have been 23 Open Garden Days since 1991 which have raised a total of £31,835. That is a wonderful community effort. The money from this year’s event will be going towards the completion of the south transept reordering.  I am pleased to say that the PCC have accepted a tender for this work and are now waiting for a start date.

Christmas Craft Market 2016

Christmas started for me when I saw the wonderment on the face Kathryn Glover’s son as Father Christmas walked towards him. Why didn’t I have a camera handy?

A big thank you to Kathy Wilkinson for gathering such a varied selection of stalls for this year’s Christmas Craft Market. The increase in people attending is always a good sign.

Raffle display

Thank you to everyone who contributed in anyway, but particularly those who worked hard preparing stalls in the days leading to the event and those who clocked up shifts of 8 to 9 hours on the day. I hope your backs, knees, hips etc. have now recovered. The clear up team were also very efficient and we were out of the hall by 5.

Tombola: Thank you for the response to our plea for more items .This stall made a record profit of £191.

The final total for this event was £1,905.70 which included some donations. Please see gallery for photos. For quiz results see entry below.
