2020 September Challenges

Well it was all very depressing earlier this year having had to cancel both the large fundraising events for the Autumn with the potential loss of approximately £3000 income ........ however the wonderful generous Friends members and the general public managed to increase the bank balance by around £2000 by the end of August. This was approximately the amount we might have made at the Christmas Craft Market. That left us short of the money we might have made from the Murder Mystery Evening so we came up with an idea to make up the short fall. You were all invited to take part in 2 different challenges. Who took up the challenge? How did the challenges go? Did they make it to the £1000 ? More photos can be found in the gallery tab.

Starting with Challenge 2 which was to organise a social event within Covid guidelines. Thank you to: Lorna W who organised a cream tea. Dagmar G and Pat C went with two events , morning coffee and afternoon tea. Christine B really got into it and organised four meals! Christine said it got her back cooking. Together they raised £350 which was matched by our sponsor to make a total of £700. Everyone had a great time with food , drink and lots of chat. Dagmar received the following poem as a Thank you. See picture below

Challenge 1: 23 Adults , 2 teenagers, a five year old and 2 dogs took up the challenge.which was to do a physical activity covering 26 miles during September. Some of them avoided the camera completely, others seem to either want to hide their identity (or they need to practice selfies!) others can be seen in various weathers and locations! Can you name them? The furthest walked was 100 miles by Rev. Claire. She puts my failure at 22.25 miles to shame. Barbara T in the USA should be congratulated for adding to her miles by walking round her living room as she couldn’t get out for a week due to smoke from the West Coast fires! The entry fees plus some extra donations raised £439 . Well done everyone for taking part. They have now received their medals and certificates. More photos in gallery

The grand total for both challenges and extra donations was £1246.63 additional donations mean it is now £1,284.
