Quiz Night

Our quiz proved very popular, with 14 teams being formed from people travelling from Southend, Ipswich, Harwich , Lawford as well as locals from Mistley, Manningtree and Bradfield. The winning team came from Harwich. All teams did well with no one below 50 percent. Thanks to Christine, Barbara and Sheila for producing the excellent ploughman's supper. The event raised £585 towards the stained glass window repairs. Thank you to those who supported the event.

Let there be cheese and wine result

A big thank you to Kathryn Glover, Anja Newman, Nic Ward and Angela Garner (Including their other halves plus the baby sitters!) for organising a wonderful evening of cheese and wine. The guests enjoyed sampling the six wines and trying to guess their origins. The wonderful spread of cheese was also enthusiastically demolished. The ladies had also assembled a raffle and wish to thank the Village Maid for their donation of a meal for two. The event, together with a donation from our American member who came to visit earlier this year, raised a magnificent £491 which will go towards the window project.  Well done girls!

Gardens Open Day 2015 results

Thanks to the garden owners who worked so hard to get their gardens ready and the volunteers who helped on the day we had yet another successful Gardens Open Day. The Sunday weather was kind to us and large numbers visited throughout the day sampling various refreshments as they travelled around the village.
The day was very successful with a total profit of £1,452 on the day, which will be put towards money needed to clean and restore the stained glass windows at St Lawrence Church. This was the 22nd time the event has been run and during these years we raised a total of £29,902.

I am glad to say that the window project is progressing with the faculty for the work having now been received and grants are being applied for. The PCC are now waiting for a start date from the builders. We do however still need to work hard to raise the amount of money needed to cover the full cost of the project, so onward to the next event “Let there be Cheese and Wine “ on Saturday 18th July.( See Events for details)
